The easiest way to describe Nicky Roulé would be as an electronic music producer.
The more revealing description begins long before the first note is written.
His music doesn't begin with a beat, a tempo or even a genre. It begins with atmosphere, a place, a memory - a feeling.
Raised in South Devon after being adopted into a family of classically trained musicians, he spent his early years surrounded by orchestras, choirs and the emotional language of classical music. When dance music arrived, those influences expanded.
Artists like Faithless and Fatboy Slim proved to him that electronic music could carry the same emotional impact while creating something completely different.
Years later, that idea still shapes Nicky's music.
Each record begins with an imagined place and the emotion it carries. From there, the production becomes a journey of discovery, following instinct rather than formula as each new sound reveals where the music wants to go.
